Designed for Kindergarten through 2nd grade ELD students, this workbook uses word chains — changing one letter at a time — so students can see and hear how words work. Each chain builds phonemic awareness and spelling pattern recognition without overwhelming beginning readers.
For the word chains, the needed letters are included at the bottom of the page. Students can cut and glue them to spell the words or write the words. Pictures are included for each word that students are spelling.
There is also a read and match page included. Students read a word and draw a line to the matching picture. The same words and pictures from the word chains are used.
