ELD Listening Practice with Maps and Buildings

Do your students need to practice their ELD listening skills? Do you work with English Language Learners who have different language proficiency levels? This set of map activities is just what you need.

Neighborhood Map

Print out and laminate the color version for a small group of students. Use the black and white version for each student to have their own copy.

Picture Cards

Help newcomer students build vocabulary with picture cards for the buildings used on the map. There are also kids for students to cut out and use as a game piece to move around the map.

Question Cards

There are 8 question cards for students to listen to. For newcomers, hold up the pictures of the buildings as you are reading the cards for vocabulary support.

Worksheets

There are two versions of student worksheets where students come up with their own directions. Then have students work with a partner to find the last building.
