Fall Thematic ELD Unit

Do you need autumn themed materials to help support your English Language Learners? Do you have a mixed level ELD group with newcomers and more advanced ELLs? This fall ELD unit has materials for reading, writing, speaking, and listening with options for differentiation. It comes with language standards and clickable links to help you quickly find the materials you need.

Unit Overview

There is a one page list of activities divided into 20 days of 30 minute activities. The links are clickable and will take you to the correct page in the larger document or outside website.

Vocabulary

There are vocabulary sheets for fall and fall animals. The reading passages, sequencing materials, and photographs all come with vocabulary support.

Ask and Answer Questions

There are posters and task cards to help students ask and answer questions about fall topics. They will also use questions to help write more detailed sentences.

Speaking and Writing

Sequence fall events and then talk and write about the activities. Also, speak and write about fall photographs.

Reading and Listening

There are reading passages included and a suggested book list to use for listening comprehension, along with graphic organizers. There are also cloze passages and decodable texts for reading practice.

Can/have/are Charts

There are blank can/have/are charts for students to fill out, a teacher page with an explanation of how to set up the chart, and example charts for apples, pumpkins, and squirrels.

Diagrams with Sentence Starters

There are diagrams for apples, pumpkins, and trees/leaves. There is also a version thathas sentence starters. These posters come in color and black and white.

Additional Materials

There are book lists, video lists, and websites with article lists included for reading and listening practice.
