Help newcomer ELLs practice home vocabulary with these sorting sheets and file folder matching game. Students will practice basic nouns that are used around the house and verbs for simple actions that take place at home.

Differentiated Cut and Glue Sorting Sheets

Students use the sorting sheets to cut out and glue nouns and verbs into the room that they are a match for.

Sentence Frames

Picture cards are included for each room (bedroom, living room, nursery room, kitchen, backyard, laundry room, bathroom), the nouns, and verbs. There are also sentence frames so that students can use the cards to create sentences.

File Folder Matching Game

In the file folder matching game students use sentence frames or vocabulary cards to practice oral language skills and match items and verbs with the room they are found in. There are two sets of cards with two levels of basic nouns and verbs included so that students of different language levels can play together. Available in color and black and white.
