The spelling journal helps students learn how to spell English words. It is organized alphabetically and has multiple pages for sounds that have more than one way to be spelled. The spelling notebook comes with example words at the beginning. You can use those words to read out loud to the student.

Pictures are included for each way to spell a sound. The example words are in the same order as the pictures. Have students independently spell the words that match each picture, or have them copy the words and then highlight the letter or letters that make the focus sound.

There are also blank spaces for students to write additional words for each spelling pattern.

This spelling journal is designed to be used by students learning to spell English words, including ELLs (English Language Learners).
