Spring Animal Life Cycle Reading, Speaking, Writing

Do your students need practice with oral langue, reading and writing skills, and comparing and contrasting? Use these materials to help students read or listen, sequence, speak and write about the life cycle of animals that are born or that emerge in the springtime. The pictures are helpful for ELLs and emergent writers.

Picture Cards
Students sequence 4 parts of each animal's life cycle. The animals are

• Groundhog
• Woodpecker
• Raccoon
• Fox

The picture cards come in color and black and white.

Question Cards

There are question cards and sentence frames for students to use with the reading sheets or pictures.

Reading Sheets
Each animal comes with a detailed and simplified information reading sheets, in color and black and white. You can also use these sheets for listing practice if the text is too challenging for students.

Graphic Organizers
Each animal comes with two differentiated graphic organizers. They come with or without a word bank.

Writing Pages
Each animal has a writing page for students to produce a longer writing piece.

Compare & Contrast

There is a sorting mat for students to sort the picture cards from two different animals. Also included are a graphic organizer and writing pages for students to fill in two animals to compare and contrast.
