Winter Thematic ELD Unit

Do you need winter themed materials to help support your English Language Learners? Do you have a mixed level ELD group with newcomers and more advanced ELLs? This winter ELD unit has materials for reading, writing, speaking, and listening with options for differentiation. It comes with language standards and clickable links to help you quickly find the materials you need.

Vocabulary

There are vocabulary sheets for winter and winter animals. The reading passages, sequencing materials, and photographs all come with vocabulary support. There are grammar posters with the winter vocabulary words on adding -ing, past tense verbs, and words that are both verbs and nouns.

Ask and Answer Questions

There are posters and task cards to help students ask and answer questions about winter topics. They will also use questions to help write more detailed sentences.

Speaking and Writing

Sequence winter events and then talk and write about the activities. Also, speak and write about fall photographs.

Reading and Listening

There are reading passages included and a suggested book list to use for listening comprehension, along with graphic organizers. There are also cloze passages and decodable texts for reading practice.

Can/have/are Charts
